Italian Destination Wedding Photography - Spoleto, Umbria

A warm and welcoming kitchen, bustling with hungry (and some nervous and excited) family members tucking into scrambled egg on toast. This familiar and traditional start to Sam and Hannah’s wedding day would have been the stuff of Italian-wedding dreams…and that certainly is what this wonderful couple achieved during their Umbrian wedding. During the feast of the morning, the and grandeur of the large house proved itself, as I explored the many nooks and crannies (which housed an incredible game of hide and seek the night before!)

Hannah’s love for others, of course her new husband Sam, but also her two children India and Harper, along with family and friends was clear to see. Hannah did not rush her bridesmaids for a moment during the bridal prep, ensuring all felt comfortable and confident with their appearance following hair and make-up for the big moment.

The entire day was reflective of the couple’s love of fashion and modern art, from the Alfa Romeo 1960s edition, to the museum venue; every detail was organised perfectly. The timely flow of the day, from the flowers arriving at the venue to Harper’s very important job of walking his mummy up the aisle, the timeline was seamless.

Albeit impeccably timed, the gorgeously relaxed atmosphere really did permeate and the ceremony itself was an extremely intimate one, with the Italian translator providing the narrative for the guests and the string quartet providing the beauty of classical entertainment. Three of Hannah’s bridesmaids delivered their extremely moving speeches, before the happy couple were announced uomo e moglie (man and wife to you and I!)

Making the most of the superb backdrop of the museum gallery, we took a few couple shots and then made our way back to the villa for the sumptuous 5 course Italian meal (another element of the day which the Italians would have been proud of!) The area around the pool allowed all guests to enjoy the late October sunshine, whilst delighting in the aperitif and cocktails on offer. Even the string quartet journeyed back to the villa with the guests, to ensure the entertainment continued.

Following this beautiful start to the meal, guests then happily ambled to the back of the main house to be seated for their ornately-created main meal. Following this, were the emotional (and hilarious) speeches delivered by the Best Man, Bridesmaids, Father-of-the-Bride (during which a guest took a spectacular fall from his chair, much to the guest’s delight!) and the Groom (at which point same-named guest popped the prosecco cork at a highly-emotional moment…cue more giggles from the merry guests!) This didn’t stop the emotion hitting a number of guests though, with the Groom successfully bringing a number of family members to tears – Bride included!

That warm, family atmosphere continued through to the cutting of the cake and the first dance. That classic opener of ‘It’s Close To Midnight…’ started and the bride, groom and wedding party took to the floor for an impromptu rendition, in the style of Michael Jackson’s Thriller. The guests were delighted, with many joining in to end what was a truly perfect day.

Congratulations Sam and Hannah – enjoy the ‘thriller’ of married life!
