If you had told me that my final shot from this wedding was going to be a half-naked man being dragged across the grounds of the gorgeous Southend Barns wedding venue, I wouldn’t have believed you… but it was! And what a memorable day it was, for so many other reasons than the naked one above! Matt and Tash were vibrant, laid-back, and surrounded by many friends and family, ready to make this a wedding day to remember!

The day was situated in the heart of West Sussex, at Chichester’s Southend Barns, where Tash was getting ready with her lovely group of bridesmaids in the bridal suite. Everything was going smoothly, to the point where Tash even had time to check out how the decorations and preparations in the rest of the venue were going in her pyjamas!

In the meantime, Matt was a stone’s throw down the road, getting ready at the Blacksmith’s pub, with his friends and family. He was in for a surprise; when his best man arrived, he had a gift from Tash ready for him – an utterly stunning Omega watch – and the look on his face when he realised what his bride-to-be had gifted him on the morning of their wedding is priceless! After many attempts at getting the ties right in the middle of the bar, the group headed off to the venue to greet the rest of the guests.

The ceremony took place in the barn’s gorgeous, modern and minimalist ceremony room without a hitch. Matt and Tash looked delighted to be re-united with one another and we got some great moments of them touching heads throughout the ceremony. After the mad dash through the confetti line, we took them out onto the stunning fields that surround the venue so that the two of them could have a moment together and realise that they just got married!

After some fun and games on the lawns, it was time to head into the wedding breakfast, where the room was decorated with classic literature and film memorabilia with the theme of famous relationships – we particularly liked the book ‘secrets of a happy marriage’, which brings us onto the speeches; the perfect time for sagely advice! It doesn’t surprise me that the speeches, particularly Matt and his best man, were hilarious – the whole of the head table were jovial and quick witted throughout the day.

We took the couple out for the final portraits of the day and managed to catch the gorgeous sunset as the two of them enjoyed one another’s company. The golden light falling on Matt and Tash was stunning! That’s my dream scenario as a Hampshire wedding photographer.

As day transcended into night, the cake cutting and first dance got into full swing, along with the energetic guests joining the dance floor. But whilst everyone was enjoying themselves, the groomsmen snuck off to get changed into… wait for it… superhero costumes! Apparently, Matt is a fan of all things Marvel and DC, and suddenly, fully grown men dressed as characters such as the Hulk and the Flash, to name a few, were gate-crashing the dancefloor and photobombing our shots!

One of the last shots of the evening is of Matt and Tash in-front of an awesome, bright pink, neon sign that says, ‘Crazy in Love’, and I feel that that shot perfectly sums up the day for me. Not only were Matt and Tash just so in love, they knew how to have fun with the people they love. And of course, let’s not forget the shot of a half-naked man at the end of the night – that was Matt’s best man, who had gone to get changed out of his Flash costume, only to be attacked by the groomsmen, who decided the best way to celebrate the day was to ‘expose’ him to the other guest! Thanks to Tash and Matt for letting me be a part of their beautiful, loving, yet hilarious and memorable day!
