"Just received our wedding photos and we can't stop looking at them! What we wanted from our photographs were the memories and that's exactly what we have, all exquisitely captured. Absolutely priceless. Thank you so much." Anna & John xx

It doesn't happen very often, but the wedding of John and Anna started with me knocking on the wrong door. I was greeted with "Johnny doesn't live here, but he was born here...", which I really wasn't expecting! It turned out, the groom's family home was round the corner, on the farm his family owns in beautiful Shepton Montague. Once we had located the groom, we discovered another delightful and unexpected aspect of shooting a Somerset wedding - there were cows roaming in their garden!
Luxury exclusive venue for weddings.
Whilst John was getting ready with his family and friends at home, Anna was preparing for the big day 5 minutes down the road at the picturesque Holbrook Manor wedding venue, Wincanton. Although the couple met and live in Southsea, they had decided to tie the knot where Johny grew up, and I totally understand why - It's a really beautiful part of the country.
One touch that I especially liked at this unique Somerset wedding was that as John was getting ready with their young son, Jack, Anna was with their adorable and energetic daughter Bella, and the two kids continued to play a big part throughout the day. As Anna was preparing to walk down the aisle which is adorned in traditional country house style and plush furnishings, Jack accompanied two of the bridesmaids along the red carpet, only for his trousers to fall down in front of the whole congregation! It's definitely one of the funniest things I have ever witnessed as a wedding photographer and everyone roared with (loving) laughter while Jack remained undeterred and cool as a cucumber.
Set in the heart of the south-west, Holbrook Manor
As the children flowed out across a magnificent country house set within twenty acres of gorgeous woodlands and gardens, on what was a bright and sunny July day, the guests congratulated the bride and groom while soaking up the sun. Later, during the wedding speeches, the couple were surprised by their best friends with a moving slideshow of their history together, causing more than a few tears to be shed! And the day was nicely co-ordinated by a traditional master of ceremonies - an old school element that added another touch of class to the day!
The thing I admired most about this Somerset wedding was that John and Anna were totally and utterly chilled out the entire time, and it meant they could genuinely enjoy and take in the day. It was a pleasure to shoot for them and their guests and I hope you agree that the natural wedding photos really captured the relaxed and loving vibe of the day!
